A diary about projection.
Don't believe me that homophobes hate children?
In 2005 Republicans made an attempt to pass the same piece of legislation but were denied. Supporters argued that child would be better off in an orphanage than with gay parents. Although the bill died in committee, it was amended to say that the state should mandate that married couples should be given adoption and foster care priorities. In Tennessee, same-sex couples cannot get married.

John McCain sat down with the New York Times the other day for a wide-ranging interview that covered quite a bit of ground. The NYT brought up a culture-war subject that we haven’t heard too much about lately.
Q: President Bush believes that gay couples should not be permitted to adopt children. Do you agree with that?
McCain: I think that we’ve proven that both parents are important in the success of a family so, no I don’t believe in gay adoption.
Q: Even if the alternative is the kid staying in an orphanage, or not having parents.
McCain: I encourage adoption and I encourage the opportunities for people to adopt children I encourage the process being less complicated so they can adopt as quickly as possible. And Cindy and I are proud of being adoptive parents.
Q: But your concern would be that the couple should [be] a traditional couple–
McCain: Yes.

Homophobes believe in "re-educating" children against their will.
When you hear right wing insanity about people being forced into "reeducation camps", think about this.
Live in ministries are ex-gay camps run by organizations such as Exodus. For a fee, parents can send their children to these religion-based camps for reparative therapy. There they are taught techniques on how to suppress their queer feelings and how religion can help them make the transition. Adults struggling with same gender feelings can also attend.

"LIA wants to encourage each client, male and female, by affirming his/her gender identity," the rules continued. "LIA also wants each client to pursue integrity in all of his/her actions and appearances. Therefore, any belongings, appearances, clothing, actions, or humor that might connect a client to an inappropriate past are excluded from the program. These hindrances are called False Images. FI behavior may include hyper-masculinity, seductive clothing, mannish/boyish attire (on women), excessive jewelry (on men), mascoting, and ‘campy’ or gay/lesbian behavior and talk."

Homophobes have a twisted, out of mainstream agenda and if people who really knew what they were about, they'd recognize how out of the mainstream they truly are.
...the boy's father has to do his part. He needs to mirror and affirm his son's maleness. He can play rough-and-tumble games with his son, in ways that are decidedly different from the games he would play with a little girl. He can help his son learn to throw and catch a ball. He can teach him to pound a square wooden peg into a square hole in a pegboard. He can even take his son with him into the shower, where the boy cannot help but notice that Dad has a penis, just like his, only bigger.

Homophobes believe in destroying families
Don't believe me? Look at this.
I suppose I was always suspicious, but I was in denial. Early in our relationship, Chris told me he'd had homosexual experiences as a teenager but assured me it was youthful curiosity. I didn't think there was anything wrong with being gay — I have an openly gay cousin. And I didn't care what went on behind others' closed doors. But I also didn't believe that a gay man would ever be attracted to a straight woman, and I was naive — too naive to see why a homosexual man would marry and spend years lying to his wife, his friends, his family and himself.
I married a gay man.
by the way, I highly recommend reading this entire article.
Since homophobes believe that gay people ought to pretend to be straight, even when they aren't, they create the societal disapproval that leads to betrayal and destruction. Homophobes talk about "family values" but really it is about not offending people who don't want to see happy healthy gay people. In reality, they're anti-family, and in favor of creating families based on lies. In favor of, in effect, creating families and destroying them, causing untold pain and anguish.
Homophobes try to push their twisted societal agenda using the wealth of a secretive cabal of wealthy donors.

The Mormon Church has repeatedly lied about its involvement in California’s Prop 8. Don Eaton, a Mormon Church spokesman, told KGO Television (ABC) in November, "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints put zero money in this [the passage of Prop. 8]."
Up until Election Day, November 4th, the Mormon Church had only filed one non-monetary contribution, and that was reported just 4 days before the election for a mere $2,078.97. This prompted Fred Karger, Founder of Californians Against Hate www.CaliforniansAgainstHate.com to file a sworn complaint with the California Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC). Karger hoped that an investigation by the FPPC would determine exactly how much money was really spent by the Salt Lake City based Church on behalf of the Yes on 8 campaign: http://deseretnews.com/...
Homophobes waste the time of the American people with things that should take higher priority, such as jobs, the economy, and education.
The override action happened quickly – after the House gave initial approval last Thursday and final approval on Friday, the Senate met in special session on Monday afternoon to approve changes that the House had made. The Governor vetoed immediately after final passage on Monday. The Senate and House both took up the override on Tuesday morning.

The money was split relatively evenly, according to campaign financial reports filed Monday with the secretary of state's office. Backers of Prop. 8 collected nearly $40 million for their successful campaign, while opponents of the measure brought in more than $45 million for their losing effort.
-San Francisco Chronicle
My, my, $70 million dollars plus spent, after the California Supreme Court AND the legislature approved gay marriage in California. And all the time wasted. I wonder what that $70 million could have been used for? Improving California's schools, perhaps? Oh well, no price is too high when it comes to enabling bigotry.
So the next time you hear about how the gay rights movement hates children, enables pedophilia, how liberals want to put people in re-education camps, about what is or is not "mainstream thought", how GLBT people seeking their legal equality waste the public's time and money, or how their concerns are so much less important than everything else, remember these examples of projection.
